Ätrans Nedre FVOF

Ätran - a classic salmon water and one of the most prestigious wild salmon rivers in Sweden, in the fisheries conservation area there are many great fishing opportunities!

The water includes salmon, sea trout, pike, perch, eel, lake, tench and roach. Occasionally you will find nice stretches for fly fishing for salmon and trout, but the water is also known for keeping large specimens of pike. Ätran and the tributary Högvadsån have a genuine salmon stock that is extra worthy of protection. It is basically completely unaffected from cultivation.
Thanks to extensive fisheries and water management, it has been possible to retain the self-reproducing salmon.

With its source flows, Ätran is approximately 243 kilometers long. It is the second most powerful of the four Hallandsåarna.
Ätran flows from a bog in Gullered at an altitude of 332 meters above sea level, through southeastern Västergötland, and falls into the Kattegat at Falkenberg.

Ätrans Nedre Fiskevårdsområde extends from the bridge in Vessigebro, to the bridge over the old E6 in Falkenberg, about 150 meters upstream of Herting power station.
