Sävsjöorten Fishing Area offers fishing in Lake Eksjöhovgårdssjön, which is located just southeast from Sävsjö. Fishing for perch can be really good in the lake. The scenery around the lake is magnificent, with an old castle ruin which stands as a memory from the past. The castle was built in the 15th century on an island in the northern part of the lake. Between the 15th and the 17th century, the castle was owned by the Sture family, a famous Swedish noble family, which had great influence on Swedish history over many centuries.
At times fishing for perch and pike can be really good in the lake. Perch weighing over 2 pounds are sometimes caught in the lake.
