Solgen is a vast lake. The majority of its water surface is in the municipality of Eksjö, but the southern part stretches in to the municipality of Vetlanda. Lake Solgen holds a nice population of pike-perch and a very good population of big perch. Jig fishing for these species can be very rewarding. If you like to try different methods like trolling or angling, the prime time for pike-perch is evenings and nights.
The best method to get in touch with the bigger pike-perch is bottom angling with deadbait, for example roach. The fishing for pike can also be nice from time to time. During winter, Lake Solgen is a popular lake for ice fishing for perch.
Lake Solgen, with its islands and surroundings, is a valuable area, because of its clean water and deciduous forests. Otter and white-backed woodpecker, two of Sweden’s threatened species, have been found in the area around Solgen. Overall, Lake Solgen and its surroundings have a very rich birdlife and a frequently visited bird watching tower is located in Söraby at River Solgenån’s inlet to Lake Solgen.
