A warm welcome to Botungen's fish conservation area, located in Säffle municipality in southwest Värmland. The area comprises about 15 lakes larger than 3 hectares and the total lake area in the area is about 500 hectares. In addition, there are many kilometers of running water.
The fishery has been managed since 1992 by the Botungen Fisheries Area Association. The association coordinates fishing operations and fisheries management, promotes the fishermen's common interests and provides fishing rights to the public by offering different varieties of fishing licenses.
The environment in the area is scenic and offers great opportunities for privacy and relaxation. Around Lake Botungen there is some agricultural land and buildings, but otherwise the landscape is characterized by large forest areas and alternating meadows where you make your way on smaller forest car roads. Wind protection is found at some of the larger lakes, including on the eastern side of Lake Vargsjön and at the Upper and Lower Långhalen.
