Hultsjö Södra Fishing Area covers about 600 acres of water. Lake Övingen in the highlands of Småland has an area of 480 acres. Övingen is a nutrient-poor lake with sparse water vegetation, known for its clear, healthy water. The lake is a source lake which belongs to the main catchment area of River Lagan. In the deepest part of the lake the depth is 32,5 meters. Most of the shores are steep and rocky. The lake is surrounded by coniferous and mixed forests, fields and pastures.
Even though fishing in Lake Övingen is sometimes difficult, the lake is inhabited by big pike and perch and also large burbot. If you gain knowledge of lake Övingen you can experience really nice fishing in the lake. Burbot of as much as 5,5 kg have been caught in Övingen and the fishing for perch has improved in the last years. Even an increase of whitefish has been seen in the latest years - which is positive for the predatory fish species in the lake.
Hållgärd’s Island contains a small farm and a 60 meter long bridge to the mainland. According to the legend, the island was named after a Dutch prince (prince Hållgärd), who fled from his country in the mid-1600s and eventually settled on the island.

Access for wheelchairs is made possible by a landing-stage at the southeast part of the lake close to the parking lot.
