Fishing rules Lower Ljungans Sport Fishing 2024
The fishing license is valid for sport fishing with a rod in Ljungan from Viforsen to the sea. Fishing is free in Klingstatjärn, Sommartjärn and Vintertjärn. In Östtjärn, a special fishing license applies.
Permitted fishing methods/gear:
Spin/reel fishing with drags, spinners, wobblers and bobbers with a maximum of 3 flies.
Fly fishing with fly rod and fly.
Angling with float and worm/maggot.
Pimple fishing with hook and worm/maggot.
Single hook and triple hook drags, wobblers and spinners max 13 mm hook gap.
Single hook 13 mm, double hook and triple hook fly max 9 mm hook gap.
All other gear and baits are prohibited.
All types of sinks are prohibited.
All baits containing lead are prohibited.
Minimum dimensions:
Sea trout 50 cm
Grayling 35 cm
Maximum dimensions:
Grayling 40 cm
Peace hours:
Fishing for salmon is prohibited all year round.
Fishing for trout is prohibited from 15 October to 15 November.
Fishing for grayling is prohibited from 15 March to 15 May.
All fishing is prohibited from 1 January to the end of February, with the exception of whitefish fishing.
Catch Limits:
All salmon must be released (even finned salmon).
All wild sea trout (not finned) must be released.
Sea trout max. 1 fin clipped (farmed) per day.
Grayling max 2 per day.
Catch and release:
The fishing regulations mean that catch and release is applied, which places high demands on the handling of fish to be released. It is very important that the mucus layer of the fish is not damaged.
The fish must not be lifted out of the water or pulled onto land. The hook must be released with a hook releaser (peang).
Boat fishing:
Fishing from an anchored boat is permitted from Viforsen to 100 m upstream of Grenforsen and from Västboforsen to 100 m upstream of the old E4 bridge and from the last rapid to the mouth in the sea.
All other boat fishing is prohibited.
Fishery inspectors' prerogative of interpretation
The fisheries supervisors have the right of interpretation when assessing compliance with the fishing rules.
Other:
If several fishermen stay in the same place, mobile fishing must be applied.
Jerk fishing is prohibited.
Wrongly hooked fish must be re-released.
Littering is prohibited.
The fishing rules may change during the season, for example at low and warm water.
The fishing license is personal and may not be transferred.
Catches of salmon and sea trout must be reported to iFiske within 48 hours. Place of capture must be specified. Also applies to re-released fish (length and weight for re-released fish should only be estimated).
In the event of a violation of the fisheries management area's rules, a control fee of SEK 2,500 is charged and the fishing license can be confiscated and the holder banned from fishing.
Young people under 18 fish for free.
Nedre Ljungan's Sportfishing is managed by Nedre Ljungan's fishing area association. The members of the fisheries management area association consist of the owners of the properties that have fishing rights within the fisheries management area. When buying a fishing license, the buyer enters into an agreement with the association which means that the buyer is obliged to follow the rules for fishing. In addition to the fishing rules, the buyer is also obliged to behave correctly towards the association's members and officials as well as other anglers. This requirement also covers actions on social media or in other forms which, if misused, can damage the association's operations. If the association believes that someone behaves or acts inappropriately, the association reserves the right to refuse the person to buy a fishing license for a certain period of time and to cancel an already valid fishing license.
