Fishing license

Fishing licenses must be purchased before fishing begins and should be worn clearly when fishing.
Digital fishing licenses must be presented in the mobile phone.
Children and young people, who must hold the rod themselves, are allowed to fish without a fee up to and including the year they turn 14.

Fishing season

The premiere day is the first Saturday in March. Fishing is then allowed at 08.00-20.00.
After the premiere day until September 30, fishing is allowed at 05.00-23.00.
Fishing is prohibited during other parts of the year.
In the period from the premiere to April 30, the following stretches are reserved for fly fishing only.
- Bridge Mariefors-Bron Johansfors.
- The stream at Sandbäcksmåla - Biskopsberg.
The fly fishing routes are marked on the map and will be signposted on site.

Allowable quotas and registration of catch

Of the species salmon, trout, rainbow trout, pike and pikeperch, it is only permitted to take two (2) fish per angler per day in total. Other species are free. Returned fish are not counted.
Salmon, trout, rainbow trout, zander, perch (larger than 25 cm) and pike (larger than 75 cm) should be measured, weighed and reported via iFiske.
Released fish are reported with estimated length and weight. Feel free to report "odd" fish species such as sturgeon, vimma, Norway pout, whitefish and the like.
Only after reporting does the catch belong to the fisherman.

Permitted fishing methods

Only hand gear fishing, i.e. spinning, reeling and fly fishing is permitted.
Fishing may only be carried out in the calm flowing parts of the river.
Fishing with live bait fish is prohibited.
The fishing license gives the fisherman the right to use a hand-held rod with a line and a bait.
Fishing with a casting float, spinning fly or the like is not considered fly fishing.
Jerk fishing or other fishing conducted with the aim of hooking fish from the outside is prohibited.
Wrongly hooked fish must be returned immediately.

Minimum dimensions

Salmon (male) 50 cm
Trout (male) 50 cm (applies to all trout, also stationary)
Length 40 cm
Pike minimum size 40 cm and maximum size 75 cm
Perch over 32 cm is protected, must be reintroduced
Anyone who catches fish that does not meet the standard must immediately release it.
Female salmon and trout are protected within the entire fisheries management area, regardless of size.
Eels are protected within the entire fisheries management area, regardless of size.

Fishing is prohibited

- Lyckeby; At the Waterworks site and the west bank to a point 10 m upstream of the salmon ladder.
- Lyckeby; On the Eastern shore from 4 m upstream of the jetty at the turbine outlet to 10 m upstream of the dam crest in Lyckeby.
- Lyckeåborg; from 20 m downstream to 10 m upstream of the salmon ladder in Lyckeåborg.

In addition, all fishing from a boat is prohibited. Fishing may not be carried out on private plots bordering the river without the landowner's consent. Cultivated land must not be walked on.
Fisheries supervision and monitoring
Our fishing inspectors are very knowledgeable about Lyckebyån and our fine fishing, talk to them.
At the supervisor's request, you as a fisherman are obliged to show your fishing license, gear and catch at the supervisor's request. Young people must be able to show identification if they fish without a fishing license.
Violations of the fisheries management association's rules may result in a control fee.
Violations of Swedish law can be reported to the police and can thus lead to prosecution.

Order rules

- Do not stand for too long in the same place if there are more fishers.
- Show consideration for other anglers regardless of fishing method.
- Never wade further into the river than you need to. By walking in the middle of the river, you scare away the fish both for you and those who come after you.
- Lyckebyån's fisheries management area is a wonderful piece of Swedish nature with an outstanding fauna and flora. Help us preserve this for future generations by, among other things, taking discarded ropes and other rubbish with you when you leave the site.
- Allemansrätten allows you to stay almost everywhere in nature, as long as you don't disturb or destroy. Fishing, on the other hand, is not included in the right of the public.
- The money from fishing license sales goes to nature and fisheries conservation, when purchasing you are bound to follow Swedish fishing and animal welfare laws and the rules for the fisheries conservation area.
