ATTENTION! Fishing for salmon and trout is prohibited during the peace period from 15 September to 31 December in Norsälven.

All forms of jerk fishing are prohibited by law!

Fishing within the fisheries management area without a fishing license or in violation of current fishing legislation will result in a police report according to §37 of the Fisheries Act.
Everyone who fishes must take into account the current fishing regulations. In case of violation of the local fishing regulations, a control fee of SEK 1,000 will be charged by appointed fisheries inspectors. The Lower Norsälven FVOf can change the fishing regulations during the season if necessary.
We ask boat fishermen in the fisheries conservation area to respect that the speed limit in Norsälven is 5 knots.

It is forbidden to fish from the bridge at the Edsvalla power plant.

Fishing regulations within the Lower Norsälven FVO

A valid fishing license and ID document are required for fishing. The fishing license is personal and may not be transferred. Children and young people up to the age of 14 fish for free, but must follow other fishing regulations when fishing.

Within the fisheries management area, a gear restriction of a maximum of 2 hand tools per person (fishing rod, casting rod, fly rod or pimpel rod) applies.

Wrongly hooked fish, fish that are protected or fall outside the applicable maximum or minimum measurements must be unconditionally re-released, dead or alive.

When fishing with a tube fly, only single hooks are allowed in order to reduce the risk of hooking errors.

Trolling/tug rowing (fishing where the bait is dragged behind a boat) is allowed but with a maximum of one rod per fisherman. Please respect fishermen on land when fishing.

Catch Limits

Minimum size for salmon/trout is 60 cm.

A maximum of 2 approved salmon/trout per day and anglers may be caught.

Salmon/trout with adipose fin, i.e. wild salmon/trout, must be released unconditionally.

Spawns between 50-70 cm may be kept. Goes outside this interval measurement must be unconditionally re-exposed.

A maximum of 3 approved walleyes per day and anglers may be caught.

Fishermen who have filled their catch quota must stop their fishing.

Pike over 100 cm must be unconditionally re-released.

Eel and aspen are protected all year round. Catches of eel or asp must be unconditionally re-released.

Captured fish must be stored in direct connection with the person fishing in order to facilitate control for the fisheries inspectorate.

When reintroducing fish, be as gentle as possible with the fish. Moisten hands before handling fish. If possible, unhook the fish directly in the water, alternatively on a soft moist surface.
