Dear Visitor, welcome to Malung!
When you buy a fishing license for Malung FVOF, you are now entitled to fish in a huge area with a lot of different waters and a great variety of species.
In the area you will find many lakes, rivers and smaller creeks that house grayling, trout, char, pike and different whitefish, like perch. In most lakes and rivers you can use whatever gear you like, such as a fly rod, casting rod or a classic rod with a line and a float. There is an exception for the lake called “Åsbyrotjärn”, which is a “fly rod only” lake.
There are also a few lakes, which are stocked with rainbow trout. Those lakes require a different fishing license, so pay attention to where you want to fish!
The river, Västerdalälven, is the heart of the whole area and here you can have fantastic fishing for grayling and trout in the streams. And of course it also houses sizable pikes and massive amounts of different whitefish.
The fishing is easily accessible by the plentiful gravel roads that run through our countryside and forests.
Please always follow the rules and bring back your own garbage from your trip!
Controls are made regularly along the rivers and the lakes throughout season, so always make sure to bring your license.
