Aspen is located close to Highway 56, 20 km north of Katrineholm. The lake is mainly stocked with perch and pike. The lake has an area of approximately 130 hectares and is 11 meters deep. It is believed that there are moats up to 50 meters deep. There is a swimming area near the western end of the lake.
