The area's waters span Barken's 3,000 hectares to smaller forest lakes of only a few hectares. The stock in the area consists mainly of pike, perch, roach and whitefish. In addition, trout, pike-perch and whitefish are found in lakes no. 2, 5, 6 and 7. Good stocks of roach are found in lakes no. 2, 5 and 18. (See map for explanation of numbers.)

The Kolbäcksån between the power plants in Smedjebacken is leased to Sportfiske Smedjebacken who manages all fishing there.
Barken
Barken actually consists of 3 lakes; Norra Barken which extends from Smedjebacken to the bridge in Söderbärke, Mellan-Barken (between Söderbärke and Huggnora) and _Södra Barken_n. Note that on some maps Mellan-Barken is also marked as Södra Barken, which can be a bit confusing, as there are a few hundred meters of Kolbäcksån between them. Vevungen and Saxen are also connected to Barken and can be reached by boat.
The lakes are best known for the fine size of pike perch and especially trolling fishermen sometimes make good catches. Trout is also caught. There are good sized pike (Fiske För Alla No. 5, 2011 listed Norra Barken as one of Sweden's better pike waters). The lake is also known as a good perch lake. In ice fishing competitions, the winning weights are usually high. It is perhaps less well known that the lake also houses some very large perch.
Flaten P&T (put- and take water)

Carp fishing in Snuvtjärn
In this small pond, carp from Aneboda (mainly mirror carp) were planted in 2004. It would be an exaggeration to say that they have grown very large, but the lake offers a different and challenging fishing. If you would like directions or tips, contact the lake manager at 0736-993018. It is possible to organize fishing competitions in the lake, with up to 10 places. NOTE! Only fishing with a hook without barbs applies here, and mandatory catch reporting to iFiske.se or directly to the board!
