Lake Immeln is located in northeastern Skåne with a smaller part in Blekinge. It is located approximately 81 m above sea level and has an area of 24 sq km. The greatest depth is 28 m and the average depth is 7.2 m. The waterway is the distance from the southern tip of the lake at the community of Immeln to its northern part about 20 km. The coastline with bays is 128 km. The lake is continuously limed to maintain a necessary pH value. Of the more than a hundred islands, some are bird protection areas, which means that there is a ban on landing during certain periods. In several places around the lake there are boat rentals and opportunities for tourists to rent accommodation.
Fishing licenses are valid for spin fishing including trolling with two rods, fly fishing, angling, ice fishing and angel fishing. Of the twelve fish species in the lake, pike, perch, bream, tench, roach and whitefish are the most common. The pike fishing in particular has been praised by spin fishing tourists.
In order to preserve and develop a rich pike population, pikes under 40 cm and over 80 cm must be released.
There is a nautical chart for sale at the places that sell fishing licenses. The nautical chart is very helpful, in addition to navigation, also when fishing. It contains, among other things, ground markings and detailed depth curves.
Active fishing supervision is carried out within the fisheries management area to promote the unique fishing in the lake.
