Lake Värmeln is one of the larger lakes in Värmland and stretches from highway 61 in the north in the beautiful Brunskog parish and down past Värmskog and all the way down to Borgvik in the south.
As a guest in our lake, you can have a wonderful fishing experience. The lake offers a rich fishing of most of the common lake fish - not least the "large pike". You can also catch pikeperch and, with a little luck or skill, the fine warm water trout.
In order to improve the original spawning grounds of the lake trout, continuous restoration work has been underway in several of the lake's tributaries. This work has yielded very good spawning results for many years. In addition, during the past year, extensive renovation of the bottom environment in Slorudsälven has taken place. The aim is to improve the river's trout-producing ability and thereby also ensure the living conditions of the freshwater pearl mussel.
To support the natural population of pike perch found in Värmeln, a total of 48,000 pike perch fry have been planted over the past 20 years at a total cost of approximately SEK 165,000. The association is also continuously working on building vases, taking water samples and conducting test fishing. Right now we are at the beginning of a long-term project together with Forshagaakademin - Sportfiskegymnasiet. The aim is to strengthen the pike perch population in Lake Värmeln in the long term by stimulating natural production. This will primarily be through a strong investment in fry vases.
