Lake Västra Örten is located in Forshaga and Karlstad municipality about forty kilometers north of Karlstad. There are two main roads to the lake, via national road 62 and Deje or via national road 63 and Molkom, take either of these and then drive towards Mölnbacka.
Parking and a boat launch are available at the lake in Mölnbacka, as well as a disabled jetty and wind shelter.
The lake has an area of 1100 hectares and is surrounded by varied nature, including high mountains. There is a rich birdlife and islands with ancient tombs.
Good fishing for zander, pike and perch.
