The Åre River Lower Short-Length Fishing Area is a collaboration between Helgesjöns FVOF, Litens Västra FVOF and Undersåkersälven FVOF. The short-length fishing area offers a joint sport fishing license (separate cards for each individual fishing area can still be purchased). The short-length fishing area is centrally located in Åre municipality, scenic and easily accessible.
Åre River belongs to the Natura 2000 area and is protected from hydroelectric development, the area around Ristafallet is classified as a nature reserve.
In the lakes Helgesjön and Liten there are whitefish, grayling, pike, perch, trout and Canadian char.
Fishing in the lakes is mostly conducted from a boat, but in winter from the ice. The Åre River is about 15 km of flowing water with an outlet in Lake Liten.
Spinning and fly fishing from land for grayling and trout up to the 14 m high Ristafallet. Upstream of the falls there is only a natural population of trout. Fishing can be done from land, but also from a boat in the calm channels. The availability of fish is high in our waters.
Helgesjöns FVOF Helgesjön is located just north of Undersåker. The lake offers a varied fishing experience for pike, perch, whitefish, grayling, trout and Canadian char.
Litens Västra FVOF Lake Liten, which is located between Järpen and Mörsil, offers a varied fishing experience in the Åreälven riverbed. The lake has several inlets and outlets and a number of small islands.
Undersåkersälvens FVOF Located between Åresjön and Liten and is a strong flowing water with several rapids.
