Handbörds FVOF

Emån is a high-quality water for angling. The fish-rich river offers very good angling for several species, such as perch, bream, tench and roach. Emån is home to large bream and tench. In the stream sections there is also a chance to catch good-sized chub by angling with floating bread. Spin fishing for Emån's large pikes is another exciting challenge. The stretch of Emån managed by Handbörd's fisheries management area extends from Högsby power plant up to the municipal border towards Hultsfred, just north of Trånshult. Most of the river's surroundings lie within a fertile, very culturally rich and scenic agricultural area. The licensed stretch has a length of about 15 km and is mostly calm with elements of occasional stream sections. The bottom structure in the river is dominated by soft bottoms with the exception of the stream sections where the bottoms consist of stones and blocks. The vegetation is generally sparse with a moderate presence of reeds and water lilies in the calm areas. The immediate environment along the Emån River consists mainly of arable land and meadows with sparse stands of deciduous trees in places.
