Sportfiskarna Gotland

Anglers offer exciting and varied fishing in two of Gotland's most accessible and scenic waterways! With one and the same fishing license you get access to fine fishing stretches in both Gothemsån at Åminne and Västergarnsån. Both areas are equally suitable for families as for experienced anglers, and the proximity to the sea provides good opportunities for varied fishing all year round.

Gothemsån – Åminne
The fishing route extends from the highway bridge (road 146) downstream to a straight line between the Gothemsån estuary headlands, a total of about 1.3 km. The area is open for fishing all year round and the close connection to the sea provides great opportunities for varied fishing for several species and with different methods. Along the route there are also accessibility adaptations in the form of jetties and paved or gravel walkways.

Västergarn River
The fishing license is valid for the stretch from the marking 150 meters upstream of Västergarn harbor to the highway bridge (road 140), approximately 800 meters. The easily accessible environment makes the area perfect for both beginners and families. There is also a barbecue area and beautiful walking areas along the Baltic Sea.

Fishing upstream of the highway bridge (road 140) and in Paviken is prohibited year-round.

NOTE: Protection of sea trout
The Gothemsån and Västergarnsån rivers, like many other coastal rivers on Gotland, are important breeding and nursery areas for sea trout. Although spawning usually occurs further up the systems, sea trout pass or stay on the fishing license routes during certain periods of the year. The wild sea trout population around Gotland is sensitive, and to protect the trout in these two organized fishing waters, the following rules apply:

• Total ban on trout fishing year-round - directed trout fishing is not permitted.
• Trout caught by mistake (when fishing for another species) should always be handled carefully and released immediately.
