Hällsjöns FVO (Krokom)

Hällsjöns Fiskevårdsområde is located in the heart of Offerdal in Jämtland, with Kaxås as a natural starting point.
The area includes several lakes and flowing waters, including Hällsjön, Storvågen, Lillvågen and Åfloån, offering varied and natural fishing in a beautiful Jämtland environment. Here, beautiful nature is combined with good opportunities for both family fishing and more targeted sport fishing.

The fishery management area offers fishing for char, trout, grayling, whitefish, perch, pike and roach – both in lakes and in flowing water. The Åfloån River is particularly appreciated for its grayling and trout fishing, while the lakes are well suited for fishing from land or boat.

To maintain a sustainable stock , a minimum size of 35 cm for trout and 30 cm for grayling applies. In flowing water, a maximum of five fish may be kept per fisherman per day, of which only one trout.

Fishing is permitted in flowing water from 1 June to 31 August. Children and young people up to and including 18 years of age fish for free, while adults need a valid fishing license. Day, weekly and annual licenses are available, as well as special trolling licenses for fishing with multiple rods from a boat. When fishing from a boat, a maximum of four rods may be used – for 1–2 rods the regular rate applies and for 3–4 rods a trolling license is required.

Boat rentals are available through Birgerssons Bensin in Kaxås during the season, and there is a boat mooring at Svea Park where rowing boats are also available for rent. The area is therefore suitable for both those who want to fish actively from a boat and those who are looking for simple and relaxing fishing from land with the family.

Wind protection, barbecue facilities and easily accessible fishing spots also make the area attractive for families with children and visitors who want to combine outdoor activities with fishing. Hällsjöns Fiskevårdsområdesförening works actively for sustainable fishing and a vibrant countryside. The association also arranges the popular ice cream competition Hällsjöpimpeln, which has become a popular family event in Kaxås and attracts both locals and visitors every year. The focus is on caring for fish stocks, improving accessibility and creating good fishing experiences in a natural environment where tradition and fish conservation go hand in hand.
