Lainio Community Association manages fishing rights for more than 30 kilometers of the Lainio River. Including tributaries, it consists of more than 60 kilometers of flowing water and a large number of lakes.
The fishing waters are located between Lannavaara and the municipal border towards Pajala. The waters also include the seven-kilometer-long Taanikurkkio, one of Europe's longest and most beautiful natural canyons.
The rapids offer great opportunities for fly fishing: salmon, trout and grayling. In the harness between the rapids there are both large pike and perch, as well as a fine stock of whitefish that can be caught both on flies and with spinners.
