The area's water resources include Mosjön (310 ha) and the Baltic Sea (140 ha) as well as a number of smaller lakes/ponds and watercourses such as Flärken, Flärkån, Gällerån, Brusån, Fjälån and Bölesbäcken. The water system is connected to the Indalsälven River via Fjälån. The landscape around the waters is dominated by coniferous forest and bog. Permanent settlements are found in the villages of Sjör, Mo and Åsen, the nearest urban area is Lit.
In Mosjön and the Baltic Sea there are whitefish of high quality, otherwise the fish fauna consists of abundant perch, large pike and whitefish such as ide and roach. Tench have been introduced into Mosjön and have shown good growth. The small lakes in the area are characterized as pike and perch waters. Flärkån, Brusån and Fjälån constitute reproduction areas for whitefish in Mosjön and the Baltic Sea. Fjälån, Gällerån and Bölesbäcken hold stationary trout
The Mo-Östersjöns Fiskevårdsförening was formed in 1992. The purpose of the association is to coordinate fishing operations, to promote the common interests of fishing right holders, taking into account the regulations that apply to fishing, and to make fishing available to local residents and the public through the sale of fishing licenses.
