Lake Multen is located about 2 km northwest of Mullhyttan, about 40 km from Örebro.

The lake, which is Kilsbergen's largest, gets its water from several streams in the area, including Velamshyttebäcken in the northeast. The run-off takes place from Brogaviken in the southeast via Lillån, which flows through Mullhyttan to Svartån. The cloud is located in hilly terrain.
