Övre Ammeråns FVO is an undeveloped gem in the inland of Norrland, which offers everything that both spin fishermen and fly fishermen could wish for. The river's streams are well known among fly fishermen for their excellent grayling and trout fishing, but in recent years the excellent pike fishing has also attracted visitors from all corners of the Nordic region.
The Övre Ammeråns fishing management area extends from the beautiful village of Skyttmon and approximately 15 kilometers downstream. There is great variation on the water, with both large rapids and rough currents, where the wild Borgforsen is one of the favorites for fly fishermen. Anyone who travels by boat and fishes for perch in the bays will not be disappointed, neither in the environments nor the fish supply. As mentioned, the area has become known for its predator fishing in recent times, where, for example, Östra and Västra Rönningssjön have delivered both 2-kilogram perch and 10-kilogram pike.
Another excellent all-round water is Öravattnet, where there are trout, char and perch, and also boats for rent. In short, Övre Ammeråns FVO has more fishing spots than there are fishermen, both lakes and streams, and enough fish for both the camera and the frying pan.
A natural starting point is Skyttmon, where there is information and other services, or at the boat rental in Öravattnet. The area is signposted and has a road to rapids and lakes. There is wind protection.
Directions: Road 87 from Hammarstrand to Ammer, then road 344 to Skyttmon. From Östersund road 45, exit road before Hammerdal to road 344 towards Skyttmon.
