Are sjö is a rocky lake with quite dark water. Mostly forest around and Norra Åreda By to the west. The water flows in from Feresjön and the forest ditch and then flows out into Areström and on to Innaren. The bottom is mostly rocky with some coves with sedge and reeds.
Here you mainly catch pike and perch but also roach and bream are found. Maybe you will find the zander that no one has seen since it was planted... The lake is approximately 170 ha in surface area with a maximum depth of 6m, average depth 2.5m and visibility depth about 2m.
