About the water

Description

Our fishing area is, in terms of the number of waters, the largest in Vännäs municipality. The area is located on both sides of the E12 towards Lycksele about 8 km from Vännäs. Our fishing area offers fishing in eight lakes, a wild river and a put-and-take water. The fishing area includes eight lakes with mainly perch and pike, a wild river, Tvärån with grayling and trout and Långtjärn our put-and-take water with planted rainbow salmon. Barbecue huts are available in Långtjärn, Jämteböle and Stärkesmark. A disabled-accessible pier is available in Långtjärn. Boats are available for rent in Jämteböle and Stärkesmark.

We have four different fishing licenses

  1. The lakes - fishing in 8 lakes with a fee of 50 SEK/day or 300 SEK/year.
  2. Långtjärn - put-and-take fishing with a fee of 150 SEK/day.
  3. Tvärån - fishing in running water with a fee of 100 SEK/day or 400 SEK/year.
  4. Fishing rights holders - can buy an annual pass for 300 SEK which is valid in all waters, but not in Långtjärn during June to August.

Busjön

Busjön is 14 ha in size and 10.2 m deep and has no buildings and no road. It is located south of the southern end of Jämteböle Lake. The beaches are partly marshy and wooded. Conditions for catching large perch are available. Take the E12 to the Jämteböle exit, after about 4 km the road to the right marked "Linné-vägen", after about 200 m, fishing path to the right, walk about 1 km. Boat recommended.

Frängsjön

Frängsjön is 5.5 m deep and 7 ha in size. It is located just west of the southern part of Stärkesmarksjön. It is drained by a stream to Kvarnbäcken to Välvsjön. The shores are rugged and marshy. There are perch and pike in the lake.

Jämtebölesjön

Jämtebölesjön is 28 ha and is located in the eastern part of the area, 3 km from Tväråbäck. The maximum depth is 6 m. The lake is a plain lake with abundant vegetation. Agricultural land dominates and buildings and roads are located around the entire lake. The lake has roach, perch and pike. Bird life is abundant, and a birdwatching tower has been erected at the southern end of the lake. On the eastern side of the lake there is a barbecue area and the possibility of borrowing a boat for fishing.

Lillsjön

Lillsjön is located in the northeastern part of the fishing area. It is 17 ha in size and has a maximum depth of 6.7 m. It is surrounded by deciduous and coniferous forests except in the southern part of the lake where there is agricultural land and some buildings. A road leads around almost the entire lake. Perch dominates.

Långtjärn

Långtjärn is located in the southern part of the area and is used as a "put-and-take" water. The lake is one hectare in size and has a maximum depth of 11 m. The inlet is through a cold spring at the bottom of the lake. The road leads from the E12, signposted from the southern entrance to Tväråbäck. There is a barbecue hut, toilet and a disabled-accessible jetty at the lake. Every spring, ready-to-catch rainbow trout (from 0.8 kg) are released. The premiere fishing takes place at the beginning of June and is advertised in the local newspapers. The path to Tvärån (200m) offers the opportunity to fish for grayling and trout.

Snålltjärn

Snålltjärn is a deep lake of 12.4 m, size 15 ha. The inflow is through a cold spring on the bottom of the lake. The outlet, Snåltjärnsbäcken, flows into the southern part of the lake. The surrounding area consists of forest and farmland. Some recreational facilities are located in the eastern part of the lake, where the road also runs. The vegetation is dominated by seahorses. There are perch and pike in the lake. There is a swimming area with jetties and changing cabins.

Stärkesmarksjön

Stärkesmarksjön is the largest of the area's lakes in terms of surface area, 82 ha with a maximum depth of 8.4 m. The largest inflow is Torbergsbäcken, which flows into the northern part of the lake. The lake is drained through Kvarnbäcken to Välvsjön and further to Tvärån. The vegetation consists mainly of reeds, seahorses and nate. The surrounding area consists of farmland except in the northeastern part. There are permanent buildings and holiday homes all around the lake. A road also leads around the lake, which makes it easily accessible. The lake is mainly home to perch, roach and pike.

Tvärån

Tvärån is a wild river that winds its way through the entire fishing area. The river's character largely consists of calm and slow-flowing water with deep outer curves, but also some rapids and small sluices. The river is quite difficult to fish due to the dense vegetation and the river's winding bends with steep slopes down to the water. The beaver also works diligently to fell trees along the banks, which means that a walk along the river can be difficult. But the nature is wild and impressive, and on a warm summer evening you may even be lucky enough to see danica dragonflies dancing across the surface and luring the trout out of their hiding places. Below the bridge in Orrböle, there are plenty of grayling, while the trout dominate above the bridge. The fish stocks in the river are sensitive as the reproductive possibilities are limited and the food supply is scarce. Most of the fish caught in Tvärån are relatively small and do not reach the minimum size. We therefore recommend a barbless hook or a hook where you pinch the barb. Also, the fish that are released are handled carefully and with wet hands.

Välvsjön

Välvsjön mostly has clear and fine water. It is 26 ha in size and has a maximum depth of 9.5 m. The outlet and inlet are in Kvarnbäcken in the western part of the lake. The shores are solid and wooded. The vegetation consists of reeds, sea horsetail, nate and water lily. The lake has no road connection and only a holiday home on the shore. Perch and pike dominate.

Västsjön

Västsjön is a forest lake without a road and buildings and with rugged, partly marshy shores. It is 16 ha in size and has a maximum depth of 12.4 m. The lake is dominated by perch. It is possible to fish from the shore in some places, but a boat is recommended.
