2025-09-19 Important information regarding Lake Knarrbysjön
The County Administrative Board has received the following information from the Swedish National Food Agency regarding dietary recommendations linked to the fish in lakes Ärr, Knarrbysjön and Ånimmen.
There is a lot of data from Ärr based on the fish samples taken there and it is clear that the levels are greatly elevated. Normally, higher levels of dioxins are found in fatty fish and this is also lean fish.
So, regarding Ärr, the Swedish National Food Agency believes that the municipality should continue to advise everyone against eating fish.
Regarding Knarrbysjön and Ånimmen, there is not as much data and the data that is available shows that the levels are lower. However, the levels are still relatively high for lean fish compared to what the Swedish National Food Agency has seen in the inspection. Here, dietary advice in line with the Swedish National Food Agency's "Baltic Sea Fish Advice" should be stated, i.e. that children, young people, pregnant women, breastfeeding women or those who want to become pregnant in the future can eat fish from Knarrbysjön and Ånimmen a maximum of 2–3 times per year and others can eat it up to 1 time per week. This applies until further notice or until there are new analyses that show otherwise.

Rules specifically for children and adolescents: Free fishing for children and adolescents up to the age of 14. Only in company with a keeper / adult / person who holds a valid fishing license (on his quota) All children under the age of 15 have the right to free beach fishing, however, subject to the protection rules that according to the right of public access apply to plots and gardens.
