Fishing and fish species
Within the fisheries management area, there are salmon (very sparsely), trout, grayling, perch, pike, eel, roach and whitefish in the Klarälven.
Record fish Every year, trout of over 3 kg, perch of over 1 kg, pike of over 5 kg and whitefish of over 2 kg are caught.
Fishing methods
Trout, grayling and brook trout are best caught on a fly, spinner or worm.
Fishing season Fishing is best between May 15 - September 15 for all existing fish species, with the exception of roach which is caught during the spawning season in December.
Fishing license
The Fisheries Management Area Association offers fishing licenses as follows:
Day license: 50 SEK Weekly license: 100 SEK Annual license: 200 SEK
Children up to 15 years of age fish for free.
Boats and boat rentals
Canoes are available for rent at Storängens Camping, Ransäter. Launching ramps, of a natural nature, for trailer boats are located north of the large waterfall in the Klarälven river by the tennis court and south of Gamla Bruket, Martinverket.

A map of the Munkfors fishing area is available when purchasing a fishing license. The map can also be obtained via the internet at http://www.visitmunkfors.se and at http://www.lansstyrelsen.se/varmland.
Other services and activities in the area
Munkfors is located in a very scenic area in the middle of Värmland and there are therefore opportunities for many nature experiences. There are, among other things:
- many different hiking trails
- mushroom and berry picking
- many cultural experiences such as the Old Mill, the Fridolf Rhudin Museum and Ransäter's Hembyggdsgård and Erlandergården.

In the center of Munkfors there are well-stocked grocery stores and several restaurants. Accommodation is offered by Munkfors Association and Conference Center. Munkfors also has a health center and a public dental clinic.
