Lake Multen is located about 2 km northwest of Mullhyttan, about 40 km from Örebro.
The lake, which is the largest in Kilsbergen, receives its water from several streams in the surrounding area, including Velamshyttebäcken in the northeast. The runoff is from Brogaviken in the southeast via Lillån which flows through Mullhyttan to Svartån. Multen is located in hilly terrain.
