Svartån (Linkelösa-Odensfors)

The Svartån has produced Swedish records for both Ferna and Sarv, and on this stretch there are also catches of large Roach and Tench. Even the occasional Asp and Trout have been noted on this stretch. Records of bream of 3.8 kg and roach of over one kg are available. The size of pike and perch is not unique, but they can weigh up to ten and 1.5 kg respectively. The Svartån flows from Sommen in the southern Östergötland highlands to Roxen in the middle of the plain, a height difference of over 100 meters. Downstream of Linkelösa mill, the river is quite wide and shallow and has a lot of vegetation, and on this stretch there are great opportunities to catch large Ferna. From Karstorp and downstream towards Odensfors, the river is calmly flowing and includes several places for good fishing. The local fishing license is valid for about 10 km of the river. The most common fish species are pike, perch, roach, bream, chub, rudd, eel, roach, tench, asp and ide. There are 20 species in the river in total.
