Tannsjön and Hultasjön together form the Tannsjö-Hultasjöns fishing conservation area. In the lush inner parts of Markaryd Municipality, the forest opens up to fields, pastures and water. Mostly small farmers with cattle or horse farms live here and the area is quiet and peaceful.
The two lakes Tannsjön and Hultasjön rest with still water, small islands and good fishing opportunities from the lakeshore or from a rowing boat that the association rents out to visitors at a low price. In the lakes you can fish for pike, perch, roach and tench.
In the lakes, water is collected from the northern and northeastern parts of the municipality, including through Hökabäcken which flows into the northernmost part of Tannsjön. The two lakes meet in the middle in a shallow passage and continue together further out into Lillån in the southwestern part of Hultasjön. The water of Lillån passes several other small lakes and streams to later reach Lagan on its way to Halland, the west coast and the sea.
