NOTE: Do not confuse this area with Lake Käringasjön in Vaggeryd!
Käringasjön is a lake that was previously treated with rotenone and now also contains perch, in addition to the regularly exposed trout relatives, the Heligeå trout and rainbow trout. The largest recorded is nearly 1.5kg.
The area is characterized by the exciting rock formations at the southern end, which after the ice age still attract some climbers who like a moderate challenge. At the southern cape there is a larger model wind shelter and a cement-ringed barbecue area with a movable grill installation. The footpath around the lake does not usually require boots, except when it rains, when these footwear are most suitable. Waders are not needed as the lake bottom is not at all suitable for wading or otherwise moving around. To get out over the water, there are jetties that you step on at your own risk.
The northern end of the lake has a very small shelter from the wind, only for a couple of people. There is also a cement-ringed barbecue area with the same grill as at the southern end. Please note that it is everyone's responsibility to observe any local fire bans. Barbecue bans may also apply. Unfortunately, we cannot yet provide firewood.
The lake is surrounded by forest and the western side has a clear cliff opposite a protruding pine forest shore on the eastern side.
The lake is just the right size to be able to go around it at some point during fishing without too much effort.
Please note that littering is not permitted.
There are two garbage cans by the lake, one at each end of the lake, south and north.
There is also shelter from the wind and about 10 piers around the lake.
Sävsjö SFK is club affiliated to Sportfiskarna. Our idea is to contribute to the development of sport fishing as a form of sport and recreation and to promote sport fishing and fisheries conservation. In the interest of the members, we want to work for the purposeful organization of fishing and enable utilization and enjoyment of our fishing water, and in this way also work for good camaraderie between the club's members and others for good well-being at the fishing water. We want to contribute to increasing personal knowledge of the possibilities and requirements of fisheries conservation, and through youth activities and in collaboration with Sportfishermen, to stimulate interest in sport fishing and nature among young people and thereby give them an increased use of their free time, in order to also act for increased fishing and nature knowledge and respect for others' right to recreation.
