The Mörtströmmen Fishing Conservation Area is located in the southern part of the Bräkneån River just before it meets the Baltic Sea. The fishing license is valid in the southern part of the Bräkneån River, but also for the western side of the Vierydån River up to the border between Väby 13:4 and Hakarp and the lakes Bysjön and Viesjön. See fishing areas, parking and zoning of Bräkneån under the Map tab.

The Södra Bräkneån River is known for its fine waters and beautiful natural experiences. The area attracts with both fishing and hiking trails where the Blekinge Trail and the Bräkne-Leden cycle trail pass by.

At Mörtströmmen, the roach along the coast outside the mouth has had one of its largest spawning areas. For thousands of years, it has spawned here in the spring, and has been of great importance to the income and households of the local residents.

The ide, or the place as it is called here, comes up in large numbers in the river, in early April, to spawn. The vimman, or locally called “Sätterna”, is related to the roach and the ide, and comes up in early summer. The common loach, the bone loach, is also abundant.

The eel is protected. It has decreased significantly, but there are still some eels in the deeper holes of the river. The lake is here, it swims both in the current and hides in the holes. The brook trout is still in the river. Their larvae lie buried in the sand for up to 4 years before they hatch. Spawning occurs in early summer.

During the autumn, the sea trout come in to spawn. The young grow up in shallow flowing areas. In good stretches, like under the road bridge here, there can be up to 4 young per m2.

Pike and perch are among the "top consumers" in the fishing community. They have become popular fish and offer exciting and fun fishing for all ages, for many anglers, and are commonly found in the river.

Free fishing for children and adolescents up to the age of 12.
Only between certain dates and / or time periods, see fishing rules
Children up to 12 years old are free to fish, but the same times and rules as the fishing rules for Mörtströmmens FVOF.
