Sövdesjön has an area of 2.72 km2. The lake is part of a larger system with several lakes. The catchment area consists mainly of equal parts forest and fields. The only outflow is the Klingavälsån river, which flows north.
The lake has three islands, one in Kyrkviken and two in the southern part of the lake. Sövdesjön also has several shallows. The shores are shallow and drop off after about 10 - 100 m. The surroundings around the lake are very flat and the lake is strongly exposed to wind. In the northern part there are large reed belts. The deepest part of the lake is about 8 m.
To improve water quality, reduction fishing has been carried out. The goal of reduction fishing is to achieve clearer water, fewer algal blooms, increased biodiversity and to benefit predatory fish, which in turn is expected to have a positive effect on downstream areas and outdoor recreation. In Sövdesjön, 21 different fish species are found.
