Overseas

Översjön is a typical rift valley lake surrounded by cliffs on several sides. It is a spring lake in the Vällstabäcken water system that flows into Lake Mälaren at Skarven. Översjön is now a eutrophic (nutrient-rich lake) with good pH values, about 7.8, good alkalinity (buffering capacity against acidification) and a good oxygen content of 9-11 mg/l.
Area 50 ha Length 1800 m Maximum width 600 m Average depth 2.8 m Maximum depth 4.2 m Level above sea level 22.4 m Visibility depth 2.2 - 2.8 m.

The most common fish species are perch, pike, and whitefish such as roach, bream, roach, bream, etc.
Minimum size for pike is 75 cm. Fishing is only permitted from land. When fishing with an angler, 10 angling/person is permitted.
NOTE: Applies to members only, not day passes. In Översjön you have a good chance of catching really big perch. Every year several large fish between 0.3-1.5 kg are reported. The large perch are mainly caught when fishing with ice, angling or angling with live small fish.

The lake often freezes early in the season and provides good training opportunities for competitive anglers. The first ice fishing competitions of the year are often held here. Winter anglers often catch small perch in the size of 10-100 g with a chance of really big bonus fish. Perch is caught pretty much equally well throughout the fishing area. Those who prefer pike fishing can choose to spin fish, angling or angling in the winter. It is rare that you will not catch anything.

The spinner fisherman will find good fishing spots all around the lake, with the exception of a reedy bay in the southwestern part of the lake. The pike bites on most baits, wobblers, spoon lures and spinners work well. Nowadays, however, the favorite bait for many is the jig. Its advantage is that it does not get caught in reeds and seaweed as easily. In winter, you can often have a nice fishing trip.
Remember to release the pikes that you don't want for the dinner table. Of course, provided that they are not injured. To avoid damaging the fish, you should not use a net or hook. Those who like to fish will find plenty of small whitefish in the lake. But there are also larger fish, including large roach. Those who need bait fish can quickly catch small roach, roach, bream or roach.

Lake Säbysjön

Säbysjön was previously called Ålstasjön. The lake is now a source lake for Igelbäcken which flows into Edsviken at Ulriksdal. The lake's pH values vary with the seasons between approximately 7-8.4. The lake has good alkalinity (buffering capacity against acidification). The oxygen content is low, and in some years in late winter it can be almost zero. However, this is normally considered a shallow, nutrient-rich lake. This is because since phosphorus is abundant, it leads to high plant production in the summer. In the winter, decomposition of the organic material takes place, which consumes oxygen. At the same time, the oxygen supply is low in the winter. The plants' oxygen production decreases with reduced light and temperature. In addition, the ice cover prevents oxygenation from the air. Area 88 ha Length 2500 m Maximum width 400 m Average depth 1.65 m Maximum depth 2.3 m Level above sea level 17.7 m Visibility depth To the bottom Test fishing Map.
The most common fish species are perch, pike and roach. There are also plenty of rudd and tench. The maximum size for pike is 75 cm. When fishing with an angler, 10 angling rods per person are allowed. Only members are allowed to fish on the lake.
Fishing is only allowed from ice. Perch and pike are the main attractions. The lake has previously had plenty of really big pike. During the 1980s, pike weighing 8-12 kilos were caught with angel don. There is a pike caught by poaching that was reported to weigh over 16 kilos. The perch often seem to go in larger schools, which explains why the ice fishing can sometimes be brilliant while others yield nothing at all. It is not that easy to find the fish, but the perch that is caught is often relatively large. It is not unusual for an average weight of a hectometre. You also have a good chance of catching perch weighing 0.5 - 1 kg.

During the 1990s, the lake suffered from severe oxygen deficiency on two occasions and also in 2002-03, which led to a sharp reduction in the fish population. During the latest test fishing, we were able to observe that the lake once again seems almost dead with regard to the most common species. Test fishing is carried out with Järfälla Municipality every year. The fishing is done from a boat with a so-called survey net.
