SFK Pelikanen

Welcome to Storsjöns FVO and SFK Pelikanen!

We are located by Storsjön, which is located about 10 kilometers south of Borås and offers a fantastic wilderness feeling.
There you can fish in our 19 lakes and the Bål River. You can also hike the trail around Storsjön. Discover the beautiful nature and see traces of the old cultural landscape.

Storsjön is a man-made lake. In order to better control the water supply, Rydboholmsbolaget AB decided to build a water reservoir in 1905. The work of blasting a tunnel was completed in 1909 and Storsjön was full of water on January 20, 1910. By then the level had been raised by 10 meters.
A whole landscape of farms and agriculture was now under the surface and has given its name to several bays. Storsjön is about 150 ha and contains more than 8 million m3 of water. It has an average depth of about 5.8m and its deepest point is 22.5m.
Due to the regulation in the lake, there is not much shore vegetation. In the lake there are perch, bream, pike, zander, roach and eel. The zander is protected from 1/5 to 15/6 min. dimensions are 45 cm.
Birdlife is also a part of Storsjön. Every year, great black-backed guillemots, great horned owls, terns, woodcocks and woodcocks nest there, and sometimes we even have a couple of ospreys.

The area also includes Abborratjärn, Abborrasjön, Björsjön, Duvesjön, Furesjön, Galtatjärn, Gäddesjön, Kroksjön, Lilla Älsjön, Lomsjön, Madtjärn, Orrleketjärn, Rönnesjön, Skallasjön, Skallatjärn, Stora Älsjön, Storsjön, Vänesjön and Ängsjön.
