The fish population is mostly pike and perch. In Storsjön and Lövsjön there are also occasional specimens of previously introduced pike-perch, grayling and trout, but the recommended fishing is for perch and pike. Storsjön is known for both good availability and large fish, and the cesium content here is low. Fishing with hand gear can be done from land and boat. At Orrhällan at Bocknäset, about 600 m west of Storsjöbron, a windbreak with a barbecue area has been built. However, a boat is required to get there in the summer. Windbreaks are available on Lillholmen in Gallsäterviken and on Ärstaholmen east of the E4.

- Only in company with a keeper / adult / person who holds a valid fishing permit (on their quota)

Fiskevårdsområdets sjöar är belägna runt samhället Herrskog vid gamla E4:an. Storsjöns FVOF är en sammanslutning av fiskerättsägarna i Storsjön, Lövsjön, Bölestjärn, Mälandstjärn, Kläpptjärn, Återsjön samt Översjön. Fiskevårdsområdesföreningen bildades 1991 i sammanband med ombyggnationerna av E4. Föreningen verkar för ett aktivt friluftsliv med tyngdpunkten på fiske och natur i fiskevårdsområdet. Den ska också främja och bevaka att det naturliga fiskebeståndet bibehålls. Föreningen har uppfört ett antal vindskydd och markerat ett antal grund i området.
