Lake Gyllebosjön is one of Österlen's few lakes, with an area of approximately 35 ha = 350,000 m². It is beautifully situated in the hilly forest landscape of southeastern Skåne, surrounded by old deciduous forests and natural pastures. Lake Gyllebosjön is part of a Natura 2000 area and in 2009 the Gyllebo nature reserve was formed, covering the lake and the immediate surroundings. Lake Gyllebosjön is the largest lake in Österlen. It is a deep spring lake with relatively clear water and a rich fish fauna.
The lake is home to many natural fish species; such as pike, perch, tench, rudd, bream, pike-perch, roach. In addition, pike-perch were introduced in the 21st century.
There are also many floating leaf and underwater plants in the lake, including yellow water lily, hornwort and trubbnate. Along the lakebed lies "Munkaryggen", a rocky ridge.
The boats are normally launched in the first half of April. Pick-up is normally in the second half of November.
