The area's water resources include Lake Mosjön (310 ha) and the Baltic Sea (140 ha) as well as a number of smaller lakes/ponds and watercourses such as Flärken, Flärkån, Gällerån, Brusån, Fjälån and Bölesbäcken. The water system is connected to the Indalsälven via Fjälån. The landscape around the waters is dominated by coniferous forest and bog. Permanent settlements are found in the villages of Sjör, Mo and Åsen, the nearest urban area is Lit.
In Mosjön and the Baltic Sea there are high-quality whitefish, otherwise the fish fauna consists of abundant perch, large pike and whitefish such as ide and roach. Tench have been introduced into Mosjön and have shown good growth. The area's small lakes are characterised as pike and perch waters. Flärkån, Brusån and Fjälån constitute reproduction sites for whitefish in Mosjön and the Baltic Sea. Fjälån, Gällerån and Bölesbäcken hold stationary trout
