We manage a lake system that is largely a nature reserve. Ånge FVO includes Grästjärn, Näbbtjärn, Djuptjärn, Kniptjärn, Rången, Svarttjärn, Malmyrtjärn, Abborrtjärn, Flistersjön and Vattensjön.
The nature reserve is a so-called dead ice area with dramatic nature, large blocky terrain and difficult access outside the trail systems. It is home to one of Sweden's better populations of freshwater pearl mussels and therefore it is important to have a viable trout population. The area was treated with rotenone starting in 1984 and pike and whitefish were removed, trout were reintroduced at the same time as char was planted in some of the waters, both of which are now self-reproducing populations.
It is a popular area for winter fishing. In the summer, boats are available for rent in Rången and Vattensjön.
Cabins for overnight stays are available in several places, as well as wind shelters.
