The Sävarån is managed by the Sävaråns Fvo and has fishing permits for a long stretch. The fishing permit is valid from the freshwater limit in Skeppsvik to just upstream of Botsmark. At the fishing limit upstream of Botsmark, Holmen Skog AB is the individual fishing right owner and fishing is not permitted to the public. The Sävarån has been restored since 2011. Recently, the area between the bridges in Sävar has been restored with good results. The rapids were previously more or less “unsuitable” both as a habitat for the fish and in terms of fishing for those of us who wanted to fish in it. Now it is significantly better for both the fish and those of us interested in fishing. For those of you who only want to fish in Skeppsvik, there is a special fishing permit. The permit is valid from Skeppsvik up to where the E4 bridge crosses the Sävarån just downstream of the Sävar community. With the regular Sävarån permit, you can fish in the entire Sävarån FVO including Skeppsvik.
Other information
Currently, there is no control of the migration at the salmon ladder at Krokbäcksfallet. Neither Gravmarks village nor Fvo have the opportunity to find people who can volunteer. The fish are therefore allowed to pass without being exposed to human influence, which in many cases can be a good thing. However, it is a shame for the visitor area and the statistics, but the main thing is that the fish can pass and continue upstream to spawn.
