Lake Väsman is bordered by high mountain ridges that give a special impression to the viewer when they stand at the viewpoint at Lekomberg.
About ten islands with names such as Sollen, Bärholmarna, Granön, Lövön and a number of long capes give the lake character. Granön is a nature reserve, while Lövön has had permanent residents since ancient times. Shipping was lively in the early 20th century. This 'forest lake' with its steep forested ridges where villages grew up around the lake. Great depths, here and there shallow parts, which provide variety for the lake's inhabitants. Fishing has been an important source of income for many people, especially during the war years.
In the past, there was also the crayfish, which is now rare in the lake, instead the signal crayfish has made strong progress. Now sport fishing, mainly through trolling, is a common sight on the lake, where fishing is mainly for pike, perch, char and trout. There is plenty of space on the 45.7 square kilometer lake.
Among the known species of different fish are pike, whitefish, roach, perch, roach, bream, trout, char, asp, ide, elk, smelt, snook. Whitefish in the lake, by that we mean small whitefish and large whitefish, of which the latter can weigh several kilos.
