Vegeå offers a nice spring fishing for sea trout. From March 1st (premiere) to the end of April-May, fishing is normally at its best. Sometimes, autumn fishing can also give good results. During the spring, many so-called "besor" (spawned fish) are caught, it is very important to handle these fish as carefully as possible. Please avoid using nets with coarse meshes and knots. Instead, use a knotless net, or even better, hook the fish while it is still in the water.
In addition to sea trout, there are pike, perch, ide, roach, bream, roach and eel. Fishing for eel is prohibited indefinitely, as the species is threatened with extinction. The pike are relatively few, but there is a chance to lure a decent bite. Several pike over 10 kilos have been caught in the river! For anglers, there is an interesting population of ide and bream. Anyone who is prepared to spend some time in the river has the chance of really nice catches.
