Volgsjön's fishery management area consists of the lakes Volgsjön, Fatsjön, Baksjön, Insjön, Svansjön, Skärsjön and associated watercourses.
Volgsjön Fvo contains a number of lakes of the traditional Swedish type with Pike and Perch as a base but also has a solid population of Trout, Grayling and Whitefish, these mainly stay along the stream channel in Volgsjön (from Bullerforsen to Volgsjöfors). Trout/Grayling are also found in abundance at Volgsjön's tributaries and other stream stretches, the areas marked with rings on the attached map that you can find further down this page (window withdrawals also apply here, see below under catch restrictions).
The lakes within the fishery management area are relatively shallow and nutrient-rich, for example the greatest depth in Volgsjön is about 17 m.

Here there is a solid stock of Trout, Grayling and Whitefish that mainly stay along the streambed from Bullerforsen to Volgsjöfors. Trout are also found in greater abundance at the lake's tributaries and other stream stretches, see the map, the areas marked with rings (this also applies to window extraction, see below under catch restrictions). The lake also has a large population of pike perch consisting of 4 different genetic species (according to Umeå University) To drive a boat in Volgsjön: in the area northeast of Karlsbacka, around the islands, there are plenty of stones that lie just below the surface, even at a depth of 3 meters there are large stones that reach up to just below the surface. It is advisable to download the Garmin "active captain" app to avoid hitting rocks, instructions for how to proceed can be found in the pdf at the bottom. Insjön: As part of Volgsjön, it shares the fish population with the larger lake.
