Fishing for the large trout in Lake Valsjön and Hotagen gives you the feeling of big game hunting.
Weights of up to ten kilograms occur.
Trolling and longline fishing are recommended.
The area contains around 60 mountain lakes, forest lakes and flowing waters. Among them is the nationally renowned Toskströmmen with a unique trout population, but also large grayling.
In Lake Valsjön, below the impressive Rengsfallet or at the outlet of the Gunnarvattsån, the large trout can be waiting!
Winter fishermen reach char-rich waters, such as Rengen and Butjärn, via snowmobile trails from the village.
Several bodies of water are located close to the road, such as Lill-Brinnsjön, but the Hotagsfjällen mountains also offer roadless and game-rich long-distance fishing trips, amidst the Swedish and Norwegian mountain villages.
Valsjöns fvo is located in a scenic area near the Norwegian border and offers a varied fishing experience that geographically extends from Stor-Foskvattnet in the east to Rengen in the west.
As of January 2004, the Hotagen-Flinten area is included in the Valsjön FVO, which means that the number of ponds is approximately 60.
The larger lakes are Valsjön, Rengen, Stor-Foskvattnet and parts of Hotagen, as well as a number of other larger lakes.
Valsjöbyn is located along road 340 (Fiskevägen), 130 km northwest of Östersund. From Norway, the area can be reached via E6, then road 74 from Grong.
