Den mycket flikiga sjön har en strandlinje på c:a 50 km och stränderna är lite exploaterade för bebyggelse. Vattenkvalitén är mycket god men ganska näringsrik, ph c:a 7,5. Största djup c:a 23 meter och med ett medeldjup på 9,5 meter. Sjön Vindommen är den största i Tjustbygden, den ligger inom de tre socknarna Hannäs, Tryserum och Ukna. Vindommen är till ytan 1 400 hektar, vilket motsvarar cirka 2 000 fotbollsplaner. Sjön är cirka 13 kilometer lång fågelvägen. Vindommen är mest känd för sin goda tillgång på gös.
