Lovsjöns vattennivåer är sedan 1924 reglerad i en vattendom, som förtydligades av Länsstyrelsen 2006 betr. omfattningen av regleringen.

Både Lovsjön och Västersjön har ett relativt klart vatten och god tillgång på gädda och abborre samt andra sötvattensfiskar. Sjöarna är till stor del omgivna av skogsmarker samt fritids- och permanentboende.
