Lake Åsunden is located in the southern part of Östergötland and is part of the Stångån and Kinda canal water systems.
Åsunden is the largest lake in Kindabygden with a water surface area of just over 5,500 hectares. The lake is characterized as a rift valley and clear water lake. The greatest measured depth is about 60 meters and the average depth is 20 meters. 17 species present at the latest test fishing in 2013.
