Fishing rights are managed by the fishing area associations, which consist of the areas' fishing rights holders. A fishing license is therefore required to fish in any of the areas' different waters. The general fishing license covers most waters, but there are also some waters with special fishing licenses. Find out what applies in the water in question before you start fishing. All fishing in running water is prohibited.
Please note that fishing is not generally permitted in the northern part of Foxen (Töcksfors) and the area around the fish farm in V:a Fågelvik during the period 1 May - 31 October, See Map and Regulations for details
Foxen and Stora Le are home to fine stocks of mainly pike and perch, but also of several different species of whitefish. Other species that are common for sport fishing enthusiasts are trout and salmon, although this is mainly in the southern parts of the area, as well as pike perch. It is above all an extraordinary fishing for large pike that attracts anglers to Foxen and Stora Le. Individuals up to 15 kg and sometimes more are caught here annually. After pike fishing, perch fishing is the most popular as they also grow very large in the lakes. The Struven/Stora Le and Foxen fisheries management areas protect long-term sustainable fishing, so do not catch more fish than you need. Larger fish should always be released back as carefully as possible.
For up-to-date information on rules, fishing licenses and contact details, always read the information on the area's notice boards and on the information boards at the respective fishing waters. Fishing tourism: Within both fisheries management areas, you can catch, among other things, pike, perch, roach, trout, whitefish, pikeperch, bream, roach and some other whitefish. Pike fishing is easiest done from a boat in the summer and early autumn. In Stora Le, it is possible to launch a boat at a launching ramp at Holmerudsfors harbour. There is also a natural ramp at Gördsbysand, which is located on the road between Selen and Fölsbyn. There is also a ramp in Lennartsfors and one at Sandviken in Töcksfors.
