All waters within Björksele FVO: part of Hällbymagasinet, Kroktjärn, Abborrtjärn, Stenbittjärn, Östra Kortingvattnet, Västra Kortingvattnet, Valmvattnet and Kultran with tributary streams.
Kroktjärn Pike, roach and stocked trout (small). Wind shelter 150m from forest road. Wet banks, occasional trout may remain from previous stocking.
Abborrtjärn Stocked trout in batches, rainbow trout (2013), grayling (2024) and perch in centipede stock. 3 Ha. Wind shelter 400m from forest road. Partially wet banks, occasional rainbow trout from previous stocking may still remain. Trout and perch dominate. Please kill all smaller (<20cm) caught perch as the stock is of centipede character. The trout in the pond grow relatively slowly and rarely reach weights over 1kg. Scenic and peaceful character by the pond. Maybe you'll see the ospreys nesting nearby?
Stenbittjärn Natural and planted trout every other year, preferably as 1-year-old fish. 15 Ha. Wind protection. Mostly marshy banks that are well suited for back-casting with a fly rod! Very high quality, relatively good growth and average size of the trout. The fishing can be demanding at times with carefully calculated and selective fish. Visitors are advised to show special consideration when fishing in the pond in order to preserve the fine fishing that prevails. Bring mosquito repellent!
Östra Kortingvattnet (Ystersjön) Natural trout and a thousand-brother population of perch. 69 Ha. Wind protection. Mostly solid banks. Traditionally, the eastern side of the lake is considered the best for fishing for trout. The trout (characteristically bronze colored) in the pond can grow really big and historically individuals up to 3kg were caught. Feel free to kill all smaller (<20cm) caught perch as the stock is of a thousand-brother nature.
Västra Kortingvattnet (Åkerbergsjön) Pike, perch, roach. 63 Ha. Mostly solid shores. The lake has good perch/pike fishing and perch in particular can grow really big.
Valmvattnet Pike, perch, roach. Wind shelter on Sandholmen. Good perch and pike fishing. Rarely were the largest individuals caught in the lake but the quality of the fish is very good!
Kultran (small river) 3 rapids. Pike and perch. Trout and grayling planted in batches, preferably as swimming fry and one-year-old fish. There is a weak natural remnant population of trout. Nice small river with a winding character and some shorter rapids. The population of trout and grayling is weak so do not count on any large catches of these species. Perch fishing in deeper pools and below the rapids can be really good with nice catches! Maybe you will see one of the river's many beavers?
Hällbymagasinet Pike, perch, roach, whitefish, and some planted trout. 263 Ha. Rest area, barbecue, boat launch, wind shelter, swimming area. Dammed part of the Ångermanälven that hosts very good fishing for perch and pike. The Björksele part of Hällbymagasinet is considered one of the better places for really big perch. However, they can be difficult to find in the large areas that prevail. A tip is to fish near the "floating tufts" that exist. Every year, individuals over 1.5kg are landed! Good and organized fishing for families with children is available at the swimming area.
Grabboksjöbäcken and other tributary streams to Kultran Smaller tributaries to Kultran that all hold stream-stationary stocks of trout. In Grabboksjöbäcken, the trout stock is abundant and dense but small-sized with few specimens larger than 2hg.
