Nimmerns FVOF har sista åren arbetat hårt för att höja vattenkvalitéen på Nimmern, ett projekt som gjorts i samarbete med Länsstyrelsen, Kinda Kommun och Stångåns Vattenråd.
Löpande vattenprov och reduktionsfiske. Undersökningar av vattenkemi, växt- plankton och bottenfauna. Mätningar har gjorts av halten fosfor, kväve och syre samt även av siktdjup. Det har också genomförts ett omfattande provfiske för uppföljning av resultatet av reduktionsfisket och för kontroll av tillståndet och utvecklingen av fiskbeståndet i sjön. Målet är att ha förbättrat den ekologiska statusen på sjön till att inte vara rödlistad och uppnå de nationella målen att ha god ekologisk status till 2027.
