Norra Vixen ligger belägen i Emåns huvudavrinningsområde, 5km väster om Staden Eksjö. Sjöns höjdläge är 215 möh(meter över havet) och dess areal uppgår till 171ha. Norra Vixen är klassad som mycket högt naturvärde enligt System Aqua med hög artrikedom och hög naturlighet (Länsstyrelsen i Jönköpings län). Norra Vixen har ett varierat fisksamhälle som domineras av Abborre och Mört. Sjön har också starka bestånd av Signalkräfta, Gädda och Brax. Norra Vixen är känd för sina stora Gäddor och ett bra abborrfiske. Gädda på 16 kg och Abborre på 2 kg har fångats i sjön. De vanligaste fiske metoderna i sjön är spinnfiske, pimpel och mete.
